Heaven and Nature Sing

By Leona Choy

Anthology #2 presents Leona's contemporary poems on the awesomeness of God's creation. Leona takes you with her as she word-paints on the canvas of life. She dips her pen-brush into a spectrum of topics relating to the natural, created world. She invites you to reflect with her on clouds, roads, shadows, wind, waves, light, brooks, dawn, roots, seasons, grasshoppers, space, clay--according to your interest and pleasure. "Blessed shall you be in the country (in the field). . . ." (Deuteronomy 28:3)

Leona writes for readers who were blessed to be born in country settings, for those who now live in those enviable locations--and for those who dream about escaping from the stifling urban or artificial suburban scene, even temporarily, to enjoy nature. Reading Leona's poetry, you know who she is. She reveals not only her faith but her vulnerability. The author dedicates these "songs" to the God of Creation, her Lord. Taste the contents:

Color and Harmony

GOD, in primal creation
splashed every color and shade
splendid spectrum
throughout His world.
The firmament shows
His handiwork lavishly
in infinite variety
design and symmetry.

MAN, as part of creation
echoes and reflects his Creator
in human creativity.
Taking brush, chisel or pen
instrument of music
voice and body
he expresses to the eye and ear
color and harmony.

The DEVIL, aberration of creation,
forever masquerading
as an angel of light
thinks black, expresses drab
shrouds himself in darkness
where no Pure Light shines
to reveal creation's color.
The devil knows how to play
only one song: "I did it my way."
and it is off-key!
Only GOD paints in color
and composes harmony.
