A chapbook of contemporary poems written by Leona when she first obsoleted her electric typewriter and took the computer plunge. From that early, fresh sense of wonder at the incredible logistics and potential of word processing came an equally awesome sense of the spiritual applications of the System. Leona tells us, "My generation thought of "software" as lingerie and "hardware" as the nails and wrenches dad bought at a special store downtown. I balked at the possibility that old dogs could learn new tricks. I continued to plug away at book manuscripts on my electric typewriter and sweated changes and mistakes with frustration. Rewriting acceptable final drafts for editors became more and more painful.
"'Just try it!' other authors encouraged. From the moment I stared in fascination at the magic of my display screen and tiptoed through the massive instruction manual, I was hooked. Finally persuaded by friends, family and increasing frustrations, I bit into an Apple Macintosh and spent the first few years under the Apple tree. I became affectionately attached to my "Mouse." Later I switched to IBM compatible hardware, hard disk, expanded keyboard and ink jet printer. Then Desk Top Publishing entered the picture. Much later I bungee- corded off the cyperspace cliff and surfed into the Internet. Shazzam! A whole new world was out there (in there!). Now I don't even blink when a book publisher asks for my completed manuscript on a disk. Piece of cake!
